    Fabulous

Ease of check-in & check-out,no hassle.Friendliness of staff.Value for money & above all the cleanliness of the room - this is always paramount to me wherever I stay.

    Fabulous

Only a short walk to jd Wetherspoons in town for a £4.10 Large breakfast and free wifi walking distance from train & tram so that car parking wasn't required. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Easy access to the Valley of Beer around Kelham Island with it's excellent choice of Freehouses and locally brewed real ales. Very close to nicely redeveloped Victoria Quays area.

No free wifi car parking extra, luckily decided to travel by train from Basingstoke, which was only slightly more expensive than the parking. No real ale or local ale offering at the bar. Disused/derelict petrol station outside the front of the hotel really affects pavement appeal and perception of hotel

    Fabulous

Exceptionally cheap parking and ease of access to the city centre, staff were helpful - esp on check out.

I would of preferred there to of been a pillow case on spare pillow as looked a bit work and yellowed

  • 7.4
    Very good

The staff were welcoming, the room clean and comfortable, and the bar was very pleasant with drinks at reasonable prices.

The location is a somewhat grubby area on the fringe of the city centre, probably more convenient for drivers than those coming from the railway station.

    Exceptional

Staff very friendly and helpful, sheets and towels changed daily, shampoo & soap provided, tea, coffee and biscuits in room. Secure car parking at reduced rates for residents.

    Very good

The staff were very helpful; when we discovered the tv remote control was nowhere to be found the receptionist was very good in finding us another which didn't work, so another tv was fetched in then the batteries in the remote control were changed as it was them that didn't work.

We were put in room 201 which was bang opposite the chamber maid's room so on Sunday morning we were rudely awakened at 8am by hotel staff talking loudly and making a racket shifting trolleys full of towels etc.

    Exceptional

Easy walking distance for Ponds Forge and city shops. Clean and comfortable bedroom. Efficient breakfast service. Above all I was surprised and pleased that my newspaper subscription vouchers (in this case for 'The Times') were accepted as payment. In my experience very few hotels do this, so I have to find a newsagent instead of having room delivery.

Just a comment on your website directions for locating the hotel: for drivers without satnav approaching from the m1 there should be more emphasis on following the traffic lane marked Victoria Quays. It is easy to err by assuming that City Centre will always be the lane to take you to a central hotel. I turned up left by Ponds Forge, a mistake from which it was hard to recover.

    Fabulous

They are good-sized rooms with big, comfortable beds and large, bright bathroom. There is a safe multi-storey ncb car park available right behind the hotel. The back rooms look onto the river which is a nice relief in the midst of a built-up area and these rooms are cooler if it's particularly hot...which it was on Oct.1st! There's a small bar on the 1st floor which is pleasant enough for having a chat with friends. The breakfast was very nice and the staff friendly. I would call it a functional-type hotel for short stays. Oh yes,and my flickering bedside lamp was repaired in minutes of asking.

Finding the entrance to the car park was not so easy. The entrance to the hotel was not particularly inspiring-somewhat lacking in character. It's very near a major roundabout and is pretty dirty outside, round the back of the hotel. The front rooms look onto roads and are very hot when it's hot outside as you can't open the window much. I didn't pay full price due to a booking mistake. Not sure if I would choose to if I had the choice.

    Exceptional

The best thing was the helpful staff - who even before I had reached the hotel car park, after a five hour drive - gave me accurate, easy to follow directions to get to the car park from where I had rung them. Then, what had seemed complicated became easy when they told me they could show us where to get the tram the next morning and that they could store our luggage even after or departure time and that I could leave my car in the car park all day (as I was paying for 24hr parking) - a great relief in the middle of an unfamiliar town. The tea and coffee making was also essential to finish and start the next day satisfactorily for me.

The strength of the shower was disappointing and we were abit surprised when we were briefly locked out of our room due to a faulty card lock (no harm done though - again saved by helpful chambermaid who got our card to work, thankfully).
